  • UPDATE: Candidate for UUCWV Board in *2027*

Home

Hello! My name is Frank Torres and I am running for a spot on the Board of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Wyoming Valley in 2027, specifically the Board Member At Large position. This congregation has given me a lot in terms of community and grounding, and I’d like the opportunity to give back with my energy and service.

I am running an extended campaign so as to offer my services on more congregation committees. I’d be very interested in helping with the UUCWV and CUUPS websites.

Some of my current qualifications are, I…

  • Am the proud Dad of a trans kiddo
  • Have been a member of the congregation for over a decade
  • Am on the Worship Committee and have wrangled 2-3 new service speakers
  • Served on the Religious Education Committee
  • Am civic-minded and care a lot about people in need, policies and issues
  • Have a background in non-profit fundraising, event planning and advertising
  • Am a small business owner
  • Have mad website design and hosting skills
  • Am a survivor of homelessness and food insecurity, as well as resultant mental health issues

I am also a person of color, to add some much-needed diversity to our current Board.

By no means am I perfect. I’ve made plenty of mistakes in my life that I’ve tried to atone for, doing my best to grow and live in a spirit of redemption.

If you think I’d be a good fit on the Board to help move the congregation forward, please show up and vote for me in the 2027 election, by which point I hope to be put forth by the nominating committee.

Thanks!
